METHODOLOGY

An independent judging panel comprising of 25 to 30 will play the primary decision-making role. The panel will consist of 50%-60% asset owners, 30%-40% independent consultants, and 5%-10% external asset managers/independent asset managers (EAM/IAM).

All licensed Private Banks of all sizes are encouraged to enter the Broad Categories. The self-nomination process begins on October 9, 2017, and closes on November 20, 2017. After that, the judging committee will review the entries and could potentially offer their nominations to parties whom they believe are of quality standards but have been too shy to enter.

Special Categories are only limited to nominations by the judging panel and the organizing committee, and the Team Categories are available to banks and non-banks to include Tax and Legal Advisories, Estate planners and Trustees for their outstanding performance and dedication.

BROAD CATEGORIES:

The process involves four simple stages:

  1. First, go through an internal self-assessment and deliberate on the categories you wish to compete, whether it is something you take considerable pride or an offering you merely want a fair assessment by the judging panel.
  2. After confirming the entries, you will prepare a written online submission of the category you’ve entered, by meeting the criteria detailed in the Entry Guide. It is also wise to be quoting examples, attaching appendices, videos, and screen caps.
  3. Then you will be invited to participate in the designated panel at The Gatekeepers’ Forum held on March 6, 2018. You are asked to send your senior representative to sit in a designated panel which you have put in your entry, as panelists in either one of the five different panels (the fundamental pillars of the awards). The key to the Gatekeepers’ Forum is for the judging panel to review the real passion and strength of the contenders. The panels will be moderated and facilitated by an asset owner/judge who has robust and diverse experience of the subject matter, and who understands the needs of the services/products. Between 20 and 25 judges, will have ten bonus points to allocate between his/her preferences, awarded 10, 9, 8, 7……1; 10 being the best and one being the worst. Companies who forego participation in this stage will receive 0 bonus points.
  4. Finally, there is an organizer’s due diligence visit where we would clarify the missing points from the submissions, and to raise questions coming from the judging panel. During this stage, you will be offered a chance for supplementing those missing information, but it is better not to take this opportunity for granted as most judges would already have made up their minds by then. It is better to get it right the first time.

The winner of each category, titled “Best-in-Class” (BIC) will be given to the company with the highest overall score. A maximum of 2 runner-ups, titled “Outstanding Achiever” (OSA) for each category can be offered if their overall scores are within a 10% margin of the BIC’s.
